Anbernic Showcases RG557 Handheld Console with Gameplay Demo and Predicted Specs
Anbernic has officially shared a real-machine demonstration video of its upcoming handheld gaming console, the RG557. The video, published on a popular video platform yesterday, offers the first glimpse of the console in action and hints at its capabilities across native gaming, emulation, and game streaming.

The demonstration featured several titles running on the device. Notably, the RG557 was shown playing mobile games like Zero and Honkai Impact 3 directly on the system. It also simulated gameplay for console titles such as Bayonetta and God of War 2, indicating support for high-performance emulation. Additionally, the video highlighted its game streaming features, with PC titles like Black Myth: Wukong and Forza Horizon 5 being streamed using the Moonlight platform.
Anbernic also shared some functional details about the RG557. The device will allow simultaneous connection of multiple Bluetooth controllers, making it possible for several users to play together. The USB-C port supports 1080P video output, enabling users to connect the handheld to a TV and turn it into a multiplayer arcade-style gaming setup. This feature was demonstrated using a classic arcade game, Knights of the Round Table.

The RG557 will feature a 5.48-inch AMOLED screen with a 1080P resolution. The screen uses full-lamination technology, which can improve visual clarity and reduce glare.
In addition to the video, the handheld console community site Retro Handhelds published a set of predicted hardware specifications and pricing details. According to their report, the RG557 is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 processor. This chipset is also used in devices such as the REDMI K70E, indicating the console may have strong performance capabilities.
The predicted memory and storage configuration includes 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Users will also have the option to expand storage using a microSD card, with support for cards up to 2TB.

The handheld is expected to house a 5500mAh battery, with an estimated usage time of up to 8 hours on a full charge. It will support 27W fast charging. The predicted weight of the device is 347 grams, which puts it in a manageable range for handheld use.
Connectivity options are expected to include Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, both of which are current standards for high-speed wireless communication.
Anbernic has not yet confirmed the official release date or retail price. However, Retro Handhelds estimates that the RG557 will be priced around $205 USD. As the company continues to tease more information, enthusiasts are keeping a close eye on further developments.
