AOOSTAR AG03 eGPU Dock With Thunderbolt 5, USB4 v2, OCuLink, and Integrated 800W PSU For $249 at MinixPC
AOOSTAR has expanded its external graphics lineup with the introduction of the AG03 eGPU dock, a solution designed to bring desktop-class graphics performance to compact computing platforms. The new dock introduces support for modern high-bandwidth interfaces including Thunderbolt 5, USB4 v2, and OCuLink connectivity, aiming to reduce performance limitations often associated with external GPU configurations. The AG03 is positioned as an upgrade over previous generation designs by improving bandwidth efficiency while maintaining compatibility with modern desktop graphics cards.

Thunderbolt 5 support enables data transfer speeds of up to 80Gbps when paired with compatible USB4 v2 ports. The increased bandwidth enhances communication between the host device and the installed graphics card, helping reduce the performance limitations commonly associated with external GPU configurations. As a result, thin laptops, mini PCs, and handheld gaming systems can benefit from stronger graphics performance in modern games, content creation workloads, and other GPU-intensive tasks, without requiring a full desktop upgrade.

The dock integrates a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface paired with a physical PCIe x16 slot, allowing installation of modern desktop graphics cards while maintaining relatively compact dimensions. In addition to Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, the AG03 also supports OCuLink, offering an alternative connection method for systems that provide direct PCIe access. OCuLink connections can reduce latency depending on system design, giving users another option for optimizing performance based on their hardware configuration. The combination of USB4 v2 and OCuLink support allows broader compatibility across a range of modern devices.

AOOSTAR has also included reverse charging functionality through Thunderbolt 5 Power Delivery support. The dock is capable of delivering up to 140W of power back to a connected device, allowing laptops, tablets, or handheld gaming PCs to charge through the same cable used for graphics acceleration. This approach simplifies cable management and allows a single connection to handle both system power and GPU expansion, which can be useful in desk setups where space efficiency is important.

An integrated 800W power supply is built into the enclosure, capable of delivering up to 500W directly to the installed graphics card. The internal PSU removes the need for a separate external ATX power supply, helping create a more organized setup compared to open-frame eGPU solutions. Support for higher power delivery also allows compatibility with high-performance graphics cards designed for demanding gaming or professional workloads.
The AG03 is currently available on MinixPC at a price of $249 USD or €213.56 EUR, placing it among early Thunderbolt 5 eGPU options entering the market. As newer laptops and compact PCs begin adopting Thunderbolt 5 and USB4 v2 connectivity, external graphics docks such as the AG03 may become more relevant for users looking to extend the usable lifespan of portable systems while maintaining access to desktop-level graphics performance.
