AOOSTAR has introduced an upgraded version of its WTR Pro NAS Mini PC, replacing the previous Intel N100 processor with the Intel N150. The original model, launched in May last year, was designed for network-attached storage (NAS) applications. The new iteration offers improved processing power while maintaining a compact form factor and a robust feature set for home and small business users.

Hardware and Cooling Enhancements

The new WTR Pro is powered by the Intel N150 processor, a 4-core, 4-thread chip with a maximum turbo frequency of 3.6 GHz, which is a 200 MHz increase over the N100. This upgrade enhances processing efficiency for storage management, media streaming, and other NAS-related tasks. The system supports up to 32GB of DDR4 memory at 3200MHz, ensuring sufficient performance for multitasking and virtualization setups.

To maintain optimal thermal performance, AOOSTAR has incorporated a 12cm silent fan and an internal through-type structure. The bottom intake and top exhaust airflow design, combined with CPU turbine cooling, ensures stable operation under continuous loads.

Storage Capacity and Expansion

A key feature of the WTR Pro is its extensive storage capability. The device includes four SATA slots, supporting up to four 18TB mechanical hard drives, and an M.2 2280 slot that accommodates a 2TB solid-state drive. This configuration allows for a total storage capacity of 74TB. Additionally, users can expand external storage through hard drive enclosures, USB flash drives, and other connected devices.

Network and Connectivity Options

The WTR Pro is equipped with dual 2.5G Ethernet ports (I226V), ensuring high-speed network performance suitable for data sharing, backups, and media streaming. Other connectivity options include two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, an audio jack, and video output interfaces such as HDMI, DisplayPort (DP), and a full-function Type-C port. The system supports triple-screen 4K output at 60Hz, making it versatile for both NAS and desktop usage scenarios.

Conclusion

With the transition from the Intel N100 to the N150 processor, the updated AOOSTAR WTR Pro provides enhanced processing capabilities while retaining its strong storage and connectivity features. The device remains a solid choice for users seeking an efficient, expandable, and well-cooled NAS mini PC for home or office environments.
