AYANEO Announces Pocket S2 Handheld Console with Snapdragon G3x Gen 3

AYANEO has introduced its latest handheld gaming console, the Pocket S2, which is set to launch in May. This new device is positioned as the company’s flagship Android-based handheld and is built around Qualcomm’s third-generation Snapdragon G3x platform.

The Pocket S2 is the first Android handheld to use the new Snapdragon G3x Gen 3 chip. According to AYANEO, the new platform offers a 30 percent improvement in CPU performance and a 28 percent boost in GPU performance compared to the previous generation. The chip also supports features such as hardware-accelerated ray tracing and game upscaling through Snapdragon Game Super Resolution.

The device features a 6.3-inch 2K UHD IPS display. AYANEO states that this panel delivers higher color accuracy and improved brightness, aimed at offering better visual clarity in games and media. Combined with the G3x chip’s capabilities, the Pocket S2 is intended to offer a smoother and more detailed gaming experience.

The Pocket S2 supports Wi-Fi 7, providing faster wireless speeds and more reliable connectivity. This is expected to benefit users who play games over the cloud or rely on online streaming and multiplayer services.

Battery life is another area where the device sees an upgrade. While exact capacity figures were not shared, AYANEO claims the Pocket S2 has the largest battery among Android handhelds of similar size. The unit supports fast charging, which should reduce downtime between sessions.

To manage heat during extended use, the handheld includes a large-area heat sink and an active cooling fan. The design continues the brand’s familiar look, with a CNC-machined metal mid-frame and an ergonomic layout. The back of the device features a four-curve arc design to improve handling comfort.

In terms of controls, the Pocket S2 is equipped with updated Hall effect joysticks and linear triggers. It also includes dual X-axis linear motors to provide tactile feedback during gameplay. On the software side, the console runs AYANEO’s in-house game launcher and management system, which allows users to organize their games, remap buttons, and switch between performance modes.

As of now, the company has not disclosed pricing for the Pocket S2. Additional details, including availability and regional release plans, are expected to be shared in the coming weeks.
