GPD Win 5 Prototype With AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 Appears on Geekbench

A new GPD device identified as G1618-05 has surfaced in the Geekbench database, revealing details about the company’s next handheld PC. The listing shows the device running on AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor, a part of the upcoming “Strix Halo” family, aimed at high-performance portable computing.

The benchmark result lists the memory as DDR5 at 1994MT/s, but this appears to be a reporting error. Based on other Strix Halo entries, the actual memory type is likely LPDDR5X-8000. The system is shown with 23.65GB of memory, which suggests a total of 32GB where around 8GB is reserved for the Radeon 8060S integrated GPU. This configuration is consistent with how handheld gaming PCs allocate system memory for graphics.

GPD’s naming convention gives further clues about the device. The G1618-03 designation matched the GPD Win 3, while G1618-04 referred to the Win 4. Following this pattern, G1618-05 is likely to be the engineering sample of the GPD Win 5. This aligns with reports from earlier this year that GPD was testing a next-generation Win handheld featuring AMD’s new Strix Halo APU.

In addition to the Geekbench leak, a photo shared by HXL (@9550pro) on X showed a 3DMark Time Spy benchmark score of a GPD prototype. The image, posted from a QQ chat in late June, shows a device with integrated controller grips on both sides, consistent with the design of previous GPD Win models.

The Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor is expected to deliver significant gains in both CPU and GPU performance compared to previous AMD APUs. Coupled with LPDDR5X memory and the Radeon 8060S graphics, the GPD Win 5 may provide improved gaming performance and better support for AI-related tasks.

Pricing for earlier GPD Win models typically ranged between $800 and $1,200 depending on configuration. Given the upgraded hardware, the Win 5 could launch in a similar price range, although no official details have been confirmed.

GPD has not announced a release date for the Win 5, but the appearance of this engineering sample suggests that development is progressing and a launch may not be far off.
