ANBERNIC has officially introduced its latest handheld gaming console, the RG 34XXSP, blending a nostalgic design with up-to-date features that aim to offer a seamless retro gaming experience. The device adopts a clamshell form factor, reminiscent of early 2000s handhelds, and comes in four color options: Yellow, Indigo, Black, and Gray.

The RG 34XXSP is equipped with a 3.4-inch full-fit IPS display, offering a resolution of 720×480. This screen provides clear visuals with wide viewing angles, and it’s especially optimized for Game Boy Advance titles. The display renders GBA games using a 3x integer scale, resulting in pixel-perfect image quality that closely mirrors the original hardware’s look and feel.

Running on a 64-bit Linux-based operating system, the RG 34XXSP supports a wide range of emulated platforms—over 30 in total. This includes everything from 8-bit and 16-bit systems to more demanding titles from later generations. The console is also capable of running ported games, including titles like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge. Additionally, users can expand their library through third-party game downloads, with RixelHK providing support for this feature.

For network-based functionality, the RG 34XXSP features built-in 5G Wi-Fi, which enables several online capabilities. Players can stream PC games using Moonlight, a service that mirrors a local machine’s gameplay. The device also allows for Wi-Fi multiplayer, making it suitable for cooperative or competitive retro gaming with friends. Media streaming is supported as well, including online video playback through WiliWili.

The RG 34XXSP includes an HDMI output, enabling connection to a TV or external monitor. Paired with Bluetooth 4.2 support for wireless controllers, it seamlessly transitions from a handheld device to a home console. This versatility caters to both solo gaming on the move and shared experiences in a living room environment.

ANBERNIC’s new handheld reflects a growing trend in the retro gaming market—delivering familiar form factors with modern capabilities. The clamshell design offers both portability and screen protection, while the hardware inside supports a wide array of classic and indie titles.

The RG 34XXSP aims to serve gamers who appreciate the feel of traditional handhelds but want the convenience and performance of contemporary technology. Pricing and availability details are expected to follow shortly.
