GPD has officially introduced the MicroPC 2, the latest iteration of its compact mini notebook series. Designed for portability and industrial use, the MicroPC 2 builds on the foundation of its predecessor by offering a larger display, improved hardware specifications, and expanded connectivity options in a small form factor.

The MicroPC 2 features a 7-inch display, an upgrade from the 6-inch panel found on the previous model. The new screen uses an IPS panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 60Hz. It delivers a brightness of 500 nits and supports 10-point multi-touch functionality. The notebook retains its versatile hinge design, allowing 360-degree rotation and reverse folding, enabling multiple usage modes such as tablet and tent configurations.

Measuring 171.2 x 110.8 x 23.5 mm and weighing 490 grams, the MicroPC 2 remains highly portable while providing a larger viewing area. GPD has also integrated a two-in-one fingerprint sensor and power button for added security and convenience. Powering the device is a 27.5 Wh battery that supports 45W Power Delivery fast charging as well as bypass charging to protect the battery during extended use while plugged in.

Under the hood, the MicroPC 2 runs on Intel’s N250 processor, a 4-core, 4-thread chip with a configurable TDP between 6W and 15W. It is paired with 16GB of LPDDR5 memory running at 4800 MT/s and includes a 512GB M.2 2280 SSD as standard storage.

For connectivity, GPD has equipped the MicroPC 2 with a wide range of ports. Users will find two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports, an HDMI 2.1 output, a microSD card reader, and an RJ45 Ethernet port for wired network access. This diverse selection ensures compatibility with various peripherals and accessories, making it suitable for field work and industrial applications.

The MicroPC 2 aims to offer a balance between portability and functionality in a rugged mini notebook design. With upgraded hardware and thoughtful features such as the larger screen, multi-mode hinge, and fast charging support, it caters to professionals seeking a compact device for demanding environments.

GPD has not yet announced specific pricing or availability details for the MicroPC 2. More information is expected to be shared in the coming weeks as the company begins rolling out the device to global markets.
