ANBERNIC Launches RG 35XXPro Vertical Retro Handheld with Dual Joystick Design

ANBERNIC has officially released its latest vertical retro handheld console, the RG 35XXPro, now available for purchase on JD.com at an introductory price of 298 yuan (approximately $42). This new model is based on the RG 35XX series and marks the first time the company has introduced a dual joystick layout on a device in this line.

The RG 35XXPro brings several design changes compared to its predecessor, the RG 35XXPlus. Measuring 12.8 x 8.1 x 2.2 cm, it has a slightly larger footprint, which helps accommodate the new control layout. One of the key changes is the inclusion of dual analog joysticks, offering a more flexible control scheme for a wider variety of games. These are positioned below the D-pad and ABXY buttons, following a symmetrical layout.

ANBERNIC has kept the 3.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 640x480 pixels. The screen remains a full-fit panel, which is flush with the front of the device, maintaining good visibility and color reproduction across viewing angles. To improve comfort, especially during extended gameplay, the company has redesigned the shoulder buttons with a steeper angle to provide a better grip.

Under the hood, the RG 35XXPro runs on the Allwinner H700 chip, a quad-core Cortex-A53 processor clocked at 1.5GHz. It is paired with 1GB of LPDDR4 RAM, which should be sufficient for retro gaming tasks. The device includes 64GB of built-in storage and offers additional expandability through a Micro SD card slot. This allows users to install more games and custom firmware if desired.

The handheld is powered by a 3200mAh battery, which is expected to offer several hours of continuous gameplay on a single charge. It also includes support for Bluetooth 4.2, enabling wireless controller pairing and audio connectivity. A Micro HDMI port is available for connecting the device to an external display, allowing players to enjoy games on a larger screen.

Connectivity and charging are handled via a USB-C port. The RG 35XXPro runs a Linux-based operating system, with support for multiple classic console emulators out of the box. Users can expect compatibility with systems such as NES, SNES, Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, Sega Genesis, and PlayStation 1, among others.

With its updated hardware and revised control layout, the RG 35XXPro aims to provide a more versatile handheld gaming experience while staying affordable. The addition of Bluetooth and HDMI output further broadens its usability for both portable and home gaming setups.
