GMKtec Launches NucBox4 mini PC with AMD Ryzen 7 3750H
The manufacturer GMKtec , which was only founded in 2019, has presented a new mini PC . The portfolio of the young brand already includes several small computers, high-resolution monitors and other accessories. The new model is called GMK NucBox 4 and, thanks to the AMD Ryzen 7 3750H , should offer a lot of performance and still be compact and cheap. To what extent you have to make compromises, we will now look at together!
According to picture GMK NucBox 4 has 124 x 112 x 41mm dimensions of the mini PC, which deserves its name and the weight is 339 grams. Unless you need the smallest case on the market, GMK will at least reward you with some ports . In plain language, this means four USB 3.1 (USB-A), two HDMI 2.0 and one each USB-C , 3.5 millimeter jack , DC-In and RJ45 for LAN . There is even a microSD slot for storage expansion, although I would have liked a full-size SD slot. Incidentally, the USB-C port supports DisplayPort , but is not connected via Thunderbolt 4. However, the LAN connection transmits a maximum of 1,000 Mbit/s.
The two HDMI ports support 4K at 60 Hertz , which is top notch for a mini PC. With a product tailored to gaming, we would have criticized the limitation to 60 Hertz. WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2 are on board as standards. The NucBox 4 looks like a pretty universal home mini PC with solid specs and a great price. It has the AMD Ryzen 7 3750H processor combined with the Radeon RX Vega 10 GPU, 16 GB of DDR4 RAM and a 512 GB SSD. You can also upgrade the RAM up to 64GB or install an additional 2.5″ or M.2 SATA hard drive. With triple display support (2x HDMI 2.0, USB Type-C with DP), you can vibrate to 4K at 60Hz and fully utilize the mini PC. As mentioned above, it comes with Windows 11 Pro installed, but you can also opt for Linux/Ubuntu if needed.
The manufacturer is not stingy when it comes to storage either – the GMK NucBox 4 offers 512 gigabytes of SSD storage space . It is possible to replace the hard drive, although only SSDs with up to one terabyte are recognized and supported. If you need more internal storage, you can install a 2.5-inch HDD in the SATA slot . The necessary screws and the cable are even included in the scope of delivery of the Mini-PCS - that's exemplary! The RAM is also surprisingly large at 16 gigabytes . Two DDR4 banks are used in dual channel , which can be expanded to a maximum of 64 gigabytes. That leaves us with a look at the operating system. According to GMK, the brand new Windows 11 is preinstalled . According to the manufacturer, however, it is not a problem to install a Linux derivative such as Ubuntu or Debian.
