Chinese PC manufacturer SZBOX has introduced the FN60G, a compact yet powerful mini PC reminiscent of Apple's Mac Studio. Promising unparalleled customization options and high-performance capabilities, the FN60G is poised to shake up the market with its sleek design and impressive specifications.

At first glance, the SZBOX FN60G bears a striking resemblance to Apple's Mac Studio, but it boasts a smaller form factor, offering users more flexibility and versatility. Unlike traditional pre-built systems, the FN60G ships as a barebones computer, allowing consumers to personalize their computing experience by selecting their preferred processor, memory, and storage components.

Measuring a mere 168 x 168 x 92mm (6.6″ x 6.6″ x 3.6″) and constructed with an aluminum body, the FN60G exudes elegance and durability. Underneath its compact exterior lies a robust motherboard featuring an Intel LGA1700 socket, compatible with 12th-gen, 13th-gen, and 14th-gen Intel Core processors boasting up to a 100-watt TDP.

The SZBOX FN60G has extensive support for customization. The system boasts two SODIMM slots for DDR5 memory and two M.2 2280 slots capable of accommodating up to 8TB of PCIe 4.0 solid-state storage. Additionally, the FN60G is purported to support a range of graphics cards, including the NVIDIA RTX 4060, AMD Radeon RX 6600M, Intel Arc A380, and AMD Radeon RX 550. However, it's worth noting that these GPUs may be soldered to the motherboard rather than being user-replaceable.

Despite its compact size, the FN60G doesn't compromise on cooling efficiency. Equipped with a sophisticated cooling system comprising a fan and eight heat pipes (four for the CPU and four for a potential GPU), the mini PC ensures optimal thermal performance even under heavy workloads. Moreover, with over 4000 ventilation holes strategically placed across the chassis, the FN60G facilitates efficient air intake and exhaust, maintaining a stable operating temperature.

In terms of connectivity, the SZBOX FN60G offers an array of ports to accommodate various peripherals and devices. These include two HDMI ports, two DisplayPort connectors, dual USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C ports with DisplayPort Alt Mode, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, dual 2.5 GbE Ethernet ports, an SD card reader, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Interestingly, the FN60G appears to be an iteration of the FEVB FN60G, which debuted in China in December 2023. While the barebones model of the FN60G is priced at $654 on the SZBOX AliExpress Store, its Chinese counterpart, the FEVB FN60G, starts at 2,599 CNY (approximately $366) for a barebones configuration or 2,999 CNY (about $422) for versions with discrete graphics.

Although the SZBOX FN60G presents an enticing option for enthusiasts seeking a customizable and compact computing solution, it remains to be seen how it will fare against established competitors in the market. Nonetheless, with its impressive feature set and competitive pricing, the FN60G has undoubtedly captured the attention of tech enthusiasts worldwide, signaling SZBOX's ambition to carve out a niche in the mini PC segment.
