Following the earlier release of the AM01, AYANEO's new offering takes a step forward with upgraded hardware, featuring the powerful Ryzen 7 7840HS processor and a 4-inch touchscreen display.
AYANEO first caught the attention of tech enthusiasts a few months ago with the introduction of the AM01 and AM02, drawing inspiration from iconic late 80s devices. The AM01, equipped with AMD Ryzen 3 3200U and Ryzen 7 5700U APUs, garnered significant interest during its crowdfunding campaign, offering a starting early bird price of $149. However, a recent announcement by the company revealed unforeseen delays in fulfilling many AM01 orders, pushing the delivery timeline to early February.
Undeterred by the challenges, AYANEO is set to introduce the AM02, boasting an upgraded Ryzen 7 7840HS processor. This processor features an octa-core design with Zen 4 cores that can achieve a clock speed of 5.1 GHz, accompanied by a Radeon 780M integrated GPU. Notably, the Ryzen 7 7840HS carries a higher Thermal Design Power (TDP) compared to the Ryzen 7 7840U, commonly found in modern gaming handhelds, delivering a promising 25% improvement in performance, as indicated by benchmark tests.
The centerpiece of the AM02 lies in its 4-inch touchscreen display, a feature reminiscent of MINISFORUM's UH185 Ultra that made waves at CES 2024.
