Chuwi LarkBox X Mini PC with AMD Ryzen 7 3700U and support for three 4K displays

Chuwi LarkBox X is a new model of the Chinese company's high-performance Mini PC series but, unlike the previous LarkBox and LarkBox Pro , it is a bit bigger even if it always remains very compact to take on a trip or hide behind one screen, with a chassis measuring 12.7 x 12.7 x 4.9 cm . It is not yet available in Italy, but it will be shortly since it is already on sale in the USA at a price of 399 dollars.

Designed for entertainment, Internet browsing, productivity and gaming, Chuwi LarkBox X is based on an AMD Ryzen 7 3700U quad-core processor up to 4.0GHz in Turbo Mode, with AMD Zen + architecture, maximum TDP of 35W and AMD Radeon RX Vega 10 integrated graphics . The hardware platform is completed by 8GB of DDR4 2400MHz RAM expandable up to 32GB and 256GB of storage on NVMe SSD on PCI Express 3.0, which can reach 2TB with an additional SSD thanks to the M.2 2280 slot.

While the Ryzen 7 3700U processor is a few years old at this point, having launched in early 2019, it is faster than a cheaper Intel Atom-based chip such as the current-gen Intel Pentium Silver N6005 and offers better multi-core performance than than an Intel Core i3-1115G4 Tiger Lake Processor (although Intel's Core i3 chip comes out on top in single-core tests.

So there are probably worse options for people looking for a small, cheap laptop that can double as a 4K media streamer or home media server, among other things. Chuwi's marketing materials brand the LarkBox X as a gaming PC, which sounds a little ambitious. With a laptop-class 14nm processor with integrated graphics Zen + Radeon Vega 10 CPU cores, and no option for a discrete GPU, the computer is likely only suitable for game streaming or for older or less intensive PC games. graphics.

To control the temperatures in such a small space, Chuwi LarkBox X uses an active cooling system consisting of a fan, a central grill to draw cold air from the outside and two side heat pipes to dissipate the heat. Equipped with VESA support, the Mini PC can be installed on the back of a monitor or mounted under the desk.

LarkBox X supports up to three 4K displays simultaneously thanks to HDMI 2.0 (4K @ 60Hz), DisplayPort (4K @ 60Hz) and USB Type-C (4K @ 30Hz) ports, but also integrates four USB 3.0, two RJ45 Gigabit ports Ethernet (2500Mbps), a 3.5mm audio jack, the power connector, WiFi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.2 via the M.2 AC7265 module. The pre-installed operating system is Windows 10 Home , but the company ensures the upgrade to Windows 11 and the installation of Ubuntu Linux.

Ports include:

4 x USB 3.0 Type-A

1 x USB Type-C (with 4K @ 30Hz video output)

2 x Gigabit Ethernet

1 x HDMI 2.0 (4K a 60Hz)

1 x DisplayPort (4K a 60Hz)

1 x 3.5mm audio

1x DC power input
