Compulab Unveils Airtop 3 Mini PC with Passive Cooling and Desktop GPU Support

Industrial computing equipment maker Compulab has officially launched its latest compact system, the Airtop 3 Mini PC. Designed with industrial control environments in mind, the new model features a passive cooling structure and supports standard desktop graphics cards, offering a balance between robust performance and silent operation.

The Airtop 3 builds on Compulab’s existing lineup of fanless computing systems. This latest version introduces enhancements aimed at delivering better performance for both professional workloads and occasional gaming tasks. At the core of the Airtop 3 is an LGA-1151 socket, which allows users to install a range of Intel’s 9th generation Core or Xeon processors. Supported CPUs include high-performance chips like the Xeon E-2278GE, Xeon E-2176G, and the Core i9-9900K.

The Airtop 3 can fit full-size desktop graphics cards, a rare feature for a system of its size. It’s available with either the GeForce RTX 4060 or the RTX A2000, giving users strong graphics performance for tasks like machine vision, rendering, or processing data at the edge. Despite its power, the machine stays compact and runs without any noise.

To handle thermal management without active cooling, the Airtop 3 employs a passive system based on natural convection. The CPU and GPU are mounted on opposite sides of the case, each connected to a large copper heat spreader. Heat is transferred from the components to the case exterior via ultra-flat 25-channel heat pipes. The aluminum shell of the device acts as a heat sink, allowing for efficient dissipation. According to Compulab, each side of the system can handle up to 160 watts of thermal load, enabling it to manage high-performance components without overheating.

The design also supports operation in a wide temperature range, a critical requirement in many industrial environments where conditions can vary. This makes the Airtop 3 a strong candidate for deployment in sectors like manufacturing automation, surveillance, and remote data collection.

Pricing for the Airtop 3 starts at $1,790 for the base configuration without a discrete GPU. A version equipped with the RTX 4060 graphics card is available for $2,780. The system is now available for order through Compulab’s website and selected resellers.

With its durable design, flexible component support, and completely fanless operation, the Airtop 3 is positioned as a reliable solution for demanding edge applications where noise, space, and thermal limitations are key concerns.
