GPD XP Plus Modular Handheld Console Received a new powerful Media Tek Dimensity 1200 Processor
The GPD XP Plus is a new version of the portable console under Android from the Chinese manufacturer GamePad Digital and comes with improvements in performance, connectivity, storage and battery charging. The GPD XP Plus is an evolution of the basic concept announced last year. This new model GPD XP Plus Modular Handheld Console now received Media Tek Dimensity 1200, WIFI 6 and Android.
The enormous versatility of the use of smartphones has caused the fall from grace of several product categories, such as cameras. Also portable consoles. Sony left the market and Nintendo itself had to reinvent itself with the Switch to compensate for the drop in sales of the Nintendo 3D. The announcement of the Steam Deck by Valve was a shock and thus machines like the GPD XP came onto the market.
According to GPD, the XP Plus will feature a Media Tek Dimensity 1200 chipset, increased RAM and ROM, fast charging capabilities, and USB Type-C compatibility. It will also feature the same interchangeable controls as the Nintendo Switch. Apart from that, GPD also stated that they initially used the Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC for the new handsets, but ultimately decided to go with the Dimensity chipset.
Initially, the flagship Snapdragon 888 processor was installed in the console, but the second version of the console was supposed to receive the Qualcomm Snapdragon G3x Gen1, but then the manufacturer decided to equip the new product with the top Media Tek Dimensity 1200 processor with a maximum frequency of 3 GHz. The image below clearly shows the difference between the performance of the two versions:
The original GPD XP handheld is also modular (with interchangeable controls) and features a 6.81-inch touchscreen with 2400x1080p resolution, runs on Android 11 and is powered by the Mediatek Helio G95 chipset. The device also comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which makes for good specs considering it's a gaming-focused handheld device.
The new version of the device will be released in an updated design, and will also be equipped with a gyroscope, a three-axis compass, gravity sensors, slots for nano-SIM and micro SDXC cards, a Type-C port and DP 1.2 for displaying images on an external monitor. In addition to games, you can make and receive calls with XP PLUS.
Android gaming devices have an interesting history in the grand scheme of all things tech. While longtime industry players like Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft have strengthened their grip on the gaming market with dedicated consoles, other devices like the Ouya, Nvidia's Shield Tablet, and handheld devices (all running on modified versions of Android) have arrived. and lost to less than ideal success rates and sales. This doesn't seem to bother GPD, especially if you look at their consistent device launches.
However, GPD XP Plus should be an attractive technology when it hits the market. Even if you already have a fairly fast Android smartphone, you can opt to purchase a standalone gaming controller as an easy way to add physical controls to your mobile gaming experience.

Posted on by LucasLooking like a considerable device. I think the Mediatek dimensity 1200 chip will make its performance worth its money.
