Xiaomi Launches REDMI Game Controller with Split Design and Customization Features
Xiaomi has officially introduced its latest accessory under the REDMI brand – the REDMI Game Controller. The product was unveiled during the company’s event and is aimed at users of specific REDMI devices, particularly the REDMI K Pad tablet and the REDMI K80 Extreme Edition smartphone.

The REDMI Game Controller adopts a split design, allowing users to attach the two halves of the controller to either side of a supported device. It features a two-stage clamp mechanism, which ensures a secure fit for the tablet or phone, although compatibility is currently limited to the two REDMI models mentioned.

Powering the controller is a built-in 600mAh battery, which provides extended play sessions without frequent recharging. The controller supports both split and combined modes, enabling users to choose between attaching the halves to the device or using them in a wireless configuration.

The ergonomic design includes a large grip, intended to offer a more comfortable hold during extended gaming. One notable hardware feature is the Hall effect joystick. Xiaomi has included three interchangeable joystick caps of varying heights, giving users the ability to adjust the feel and control response based on their preference or game type.

The REDMI Game Controller also incorporates a customizable light ring on each side, with three selectable lighting effects. The design includes replaceable directional pads and uses micro switches for the ABXY buttons and shoulder triggers. This mechanical setup provides a more tactile and responsive button press compared to standard membrane buttons.

Xiaomi has integrated its Quick Connect technology into the controller, enabling faster device pairing. The controller requires a manual connection on first use, but automatically reconnects when powered on afterward. The company claims the controller offers a stable signal and low input latency, enhancing the overall gaming experience, though these improvements are expected to perform best with the supported REDMI devices.

Another key feature is the inclusion of a dedicated game space interface, developed by Xiaomi for this controller. Through this interface, users can configure button mappings and customize settings based on their preferences or specific game requirements. This allows a tailored experience for a wide range of titles.
While the REDMI Game Controller is positioned as an accessory for gaming enthusiasts, its current device compatibility limits its appeal to users already within the REDMI ecosystem. Pricing and availability details have not yet been disclosed. Xiaomi is expected to provide further information in the coming days through its official channels.
