Anbernic has released a new real-world demonstration video of its upcoming handheld game console, the RG35XX Pro. The video, published on a video-sharing platform yesterday, gives a closer look at the design and key features of the device. The RG35XX Pro follows the company’s tradition of retro gaming handhelds and is equipped with hardware that supports a wide range of classic game emulators.

The RG35XX Pro features a dual analog joystick layout, making it suitable for both classic and more modern gaming experiences. The device is shown to support emulation for platforms including NES, PlayStation 1 (PS1), PlayStation Portable (PSP), Nintendo 64 (N64), Dreamcast (DC), Nintendo DS (NDS), Sega Saturn (SS), and DOS-based games. In addition to emulation, the handheld can also translate and run games from the PC platform, expanding its gaming versatility.

It runs on a 64-bit Linux-based operating system and is compatible with RixelHK, a third-party game downloader. This provides users with access to a wide range of retro titles and independent games. The demo also highlighted the console’s ability to use Moonlight streaming to play PC games. During the video, the team demonstrated the streaming of a AAA game title such as Black Myth: Wukong, showing the handheld’s ability to connect with a more powerful PC for real-time gameplay over a network.

The handheld supports a 5GHz Wi-Fi connection, enabling smoother game downloads, system updates, and online features. It also includes support for WiliWili online playback, although the video did not go into detail about how this function will be integrated or used.

In terms of connectivity, the RG35XX Pro is equipped with HDMI output, which allows it to be connected to a television or external monitor. This makes it possible to enjoy retro games on a larger screen. Bluetooth 4.2 is also included, enabling users to pair wireless controllers and take part in local multiplayer games, including arcade-style titles that benefit from external inputs.

The device will be available in three color options: black, white, and transparent green. The transparent model may appeal to users who appreciate a more nostalgic design, reminiscent of older gaming hardware from the late 1990s and early 2000s.

NotebookCheck reports that the hardware specifications are expected to be similar to Anbernic’s previously released RG34XX series. It may use the Allwinner H700 system-on-chip (SoC) and come with 2GB of RAM, consistent with the configuration seen in the RG34XX SP.

At the time of writing, Anbernic has not provided any details regarding the official release date or the pricing for the RG35XX Pro. More information is likely to be shared in the coming weeks as the product moves closer to launch.
