AYANEO Officially Unveils the Pocket VERT Vertical Handheld Console
AYANEO has announced the Pocket VERT, a new vertical handheld gaming console designed for users who prefer a compact device for retro and modern mobile gaming. The Pocket VERT introduces a premium build, updated control layout, and a touch-focused interface while keeping the overall size small enough for one-handed use. Measuring 86.4×143×20.5mm, the console aims to deliver portability without limiting essential hardware features.
The Pocket VERT uses a full-body CNC precision-carved chassis with a one-piece glass front panel that blends the display and the frame into a single surface. This design supports durability and gives the handheld a clean appearance. The device includes a 3.5-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1600×1440, 615 pixels per inch, and up to 450 nits of brightness. The sharp image output makes it suitable for detailed retro titles and mobile games that require a high pixel density.
AYANEO offers the console in three colors: Midnight Black, Moonlight White, and Lava Red. The design includes unmarked crystal-textured buttons, keeping the front layout minimal while retaining the classic D-pad and ABXY arrangement. Additional control buttons, including SE, ST, and AYA keys, follow the same compact layout to ensure quick access during use.
The Pocket VERT introduces a MagicSwitch button, which opens the function menu with a long press. AYANEO has also embedded a smart touchpad beneath the front panel. This pad supports multiple input modes such as single joystick, dual joystick, or mouse-style control, allowing users to match the input method to different game types. The handheld uses diamond-cut shoulder buttons designed for consistent tactile feedback, especially during rapid inputs.
Powering the device is a 6000mAh battery, which targets extended play sessions for retro and mobile gaming workloads. The console includes stereo dual speakers on the front, delivering clear audio output in handheld mode. AYANEO’s software ecosystem is supported, including AYASpace and AYAHome. These platforms offer customizable button mapping, device masquerading options, Button Mapping 1.5, and translation tools to support imported game content.
Although the Pocket VERT has been officially introduced, AYANEO has not yet revealed full hardware specifications or a release date. The company notes that additional configuration details will be shared later. With its compact size, precision-built exterior, and combination of physical controls and touch-based features, the Pocket VERT is positioned as a premium vertical handheld aimed at users who want a portable console suitable for a wide range of gaming styles.
