OneXPlayer has officially announced the OneXFly Apex, its newest Windows-based gaming handheld that brings together AMD’s latest Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU and Radeon 8060 graphics. The device is designed to deliver desktop-level gaming and productivity performance in a compact form factor. Following the trend of modular handheld PCs, the OneXFly Apex introduces an external liquid cooling system and detachable battery pack to enhance both thermal performance and endurance.

The OneXFly Apex runs on AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU, combining high-performance CPU and GPU cores for demanding workloads. OneXPlayer claims the chip can draw up to 120 W of power when paired with the external liquid cooling dock, placing it among the most powerful handhelds currently available. Without the external cooling system, it maintains an 80 W TDP, with a boost mode that can temporarily raise it to 100 W for added performance.

The detachable cooling unit features a radiator, pump, and reservoir, similar to XMG’s Oasis system. This setup is intended to maintain consistent performance during longer gaming or rendering sessions, keeping temperatures in check without excessive fan noise. The cooling dock connects through a dedicated port, allowing users to quickly attach or remove it based on their workload or mobility needs.

The OneXFly Apex features an 8-inch IPS display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, 500 nits brightness, and 100% sRGB coverage, offering sharp and fluid visuals for gaming and content consumption. For memory and storage, the Apex supports configurations of up to 128 GB LPDDR5x-8000 RAM and 2 TB NVMe SSD storage, with an additional M.2 slot for upgrades. These options place it well above most competing handhelds in terms of multitasking and expandability.

In terms of design, the OneXFly Apex adopts an Xbox-style controller layout with dual Hall effect joysticks and a 10-point multitouch screen. While it lacks a trackpad, the control scheme is designed to suit a wide range of game genres. The device weighs 698 grams without the external battery, making it relatively heavy but balanced for its performance class.

Power is supplied through a modular 85 Wh battery pack, which attaches to the back of the handheld in a piggyback-style configuration. This allows users to easily replace or upgrade the battery without disassembling the device.

OneXPlayer showcased internal testing comparing the OneXFly Apex to other Ryzen Z2 Extreme-based handhelds. The Ryzen AI Max+ 395-powered model delivered noticeably higher frame rates and improved thermal stability, further demonstrating the advantages of the liquid cooling setup.

Currently, the OneXFly Apex is available for pre-order in China, with international availability expected to follow. The pricing tiers are as follows:

Ryzen AI Max 385 / 32 GB RAM / 1 TB SSD – $1,200

Ryzen AI Max+ 395 / 48 GB RAM / 1 TB SSD – 1,400

Ryzen AI Max+ 395 / 64 GB RAM / 2 TB SSD – $1,700

Ryzen AI Max+ 395 / 128 GB RAM / 2 TB SSD – $1,690

The liquid cooling dock and detachable battery will be sold separately for $140 and $60, respectively. Global pricing is expected to be slightly higher once the product officially launches worldwide.

With its advanced APU, efficient cooling system, and modular power design, the OneXPlayer OneXFly Apex marks a new chapter in the evolution of portable gaming PCs, bridging the gap between handheld flexibility and desktop-grade performance.
