We are big fans of the Xiaomi Curved Gaming Monitor , which is still in use here in the office. Xiaomi continued to be busy and released more monitors under their brand, but also under the Redmi brand . Although they were mostly good in terms of specifications, in the end the price-performance ratio was not quite right. That could now change with the Redmi 30″ Curved Gaming Monitor. The monitor itself has a simple design and the predominantly rather extravagant gaming design is dispensed with. A stand is also included that allows you to change the angle of the monitor. There is a cable guide on the underside. However, it probably has no height adjustment , you have to use a compatible VESA mount for that. There are five buttons on the underside of the monitor for controlling the on-screen menu, unfortunately no joystick, which would make the whole thing much more intuitive.

But the most important thing is the screen itself, which has a curvature of 1800R. Here you use a 30-inch screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1080 pixels and a 21:9 aspect ratio . This achieves a pixel density of almost 93 ppi and is therefore on the level of a 24-inch monitor with a 1080p resolution. In addition, there is the 200 Hz refresh rate , which even outshines the Xiaomi Curved Gaming Monitor with 165 Hz. In terms of color coverage, 126% of the sRGB color space is specified . A value that is okay, but that was certainly not the focus here. With a brightness of 300 nits and a contrast ratio of 3000:1 , it is also more about average. The monitor also has AMD FreeSync Premium support. Although Nvidia G-Sync support is not mentioned directly, compatibility can be assumed.

There are two HDMI 2.1 ports , a DisplayPort 1.2 port and a headphone jack . You can only achieve the full resolution and refresh rate with the DisplayPort connection . At full resolution, only 180 Hz is available via the HDMI 2.1 connections. A hollow plug is used as the power connection, which is usually not easy to change. So if you import the monitor, you probably have to use an adapter. As with the Xiaomi model , there is the option of connecting two devices at the same time and displaying them side by side or as a picture in picture. Other gaming features that you normally see, such as a crosshair overlay, are left out.

The new Redmi 30″ Curved Gaming Monitor offers an alternative to its own 34″ model . Although the resolution is reduced, it has a higher refresh rate of 200 Hz. This means that the price can be reduced again and in China it comes to €214 (1499 yuan). For comparison, the 34″ monitor there costs €271 (1899 yuan). In the EU warehouses of the Chinese shops, the 34″ variant was on average €350, so the monitor could ultimately be less than €300. You can currently get an alternative from ASUS for €399. Incidentally, the two models are so similar that I assume they have the same screen panel.

If you deviate significantly from the price, then this will probably also be rather uninteresting, but the hope is for a good price-performance ratio. If you are looking for a curved gaming monitor in this size and want a high refresh rate, you should definitely take a look at this monitor.
